Europe's cities are as different from each other as their respective cultures. Most have developed into their present form over the course of centuries, or even millennia. Even the "younger" of the European cities are at least a thousand years old. European cities are usually defined by their shared Western outlook and Christian religion, as reflected in their abundance of sacred structures.
